It’s hard to describe what it’s like to be lying in front of an elephant of this size … humbling, intimidating, exhilarating all come to mind.

It is these emotions I sought to capture in the photograph itself, and I feel that when this work is shown at scale it achieves these aims.

This huge bull had such magnificent ivory that splayed outwards rather than downwards evoking the sense that you are directly under him with his balanced pose further accentuating his towering form.

Finally, you have the compelling draw upon the viewers eye towards his searching trunk, adding a sense of mischief and intrigue.
